Top 5 Self-Care Tips for Women

Taking care of yourself is essential for maintaining mental, emotional, and physical well-being. For women, juggling various roles and responsibilities can often lead to burnout. Here are five self-care tips to help rejuvenate your mind, body, and spirit:

  1. Prioritize Restful Sleep Sleep is foundational to good health, yet many women sacrifice it to meet their daily demands. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. Create a calming nighttime routine, limit screen time before bed, and make your sleep environment peaceful and comfortable.

  2. Exercise Regularly Physical activity doesn’t just keep your body healthy; it also boosts mood and reduces stress. Whether it’s yoga, walking, dancing, or strength training, find something that brings you joy. Aim for at least 30 minutes of exercise a few times a week to feel more energized and focused. See Self-Care Part 1: Movement for more.

  3. Set Boundaries Learning to say “no” is a powerful practice. Overcommitting can lead to exhaustion and resentment. Be mindful of your time and energy, and don’t hesitate to set boundaries with work, family, and friends. It’s okay to prioritize your well-being. Maybe they can learn to do the same from your example.

  4. Practice Mindfulness or Meditation Taking a few minutes each day for mindfulness or meditation can help calm a busy mind. Deep breathing, guided meditation, or simply sitting in silence can reduce stress and improve emotional balance. These practices allow you to reconnect with yourself and the present moment. it doesn’t have to be long periods of time and you don’t have to sit like a statue to be “doing it right”.

  5. Nourish Your Body Eating nourishing, whole foods plays a crucial role in self-care. Focus on a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Hydrate well and minimize processed foods and sugar. I know, easier said than done. Reminder: when you fuel your body with the right nutrients, you’ll feel more vibrant and capable of tackling your day.

Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s an essential practice for your well-being. Start by taking small steps every day.

Another look at self-care: The Core

Pelvic floor therapy can help many people with pelvic pain or dysfunction, including people of all genders and ages. For today’s purposes, I have guest writer, Ari from Ridgeline Health and Fitness. to contribute. Our core is just that - the CORE of our being. So let’s show it some love. For a deeper understanding, here’s a blurb from Ari’s recent blog post and more information on the workshop Mary and I are hosting March 21st, Spring Reset where we will focus on reseting the nervous system with a few exercises and breath work.

Core Awakening: Reclaim Your Strength, Empower Your Health

Women of all ages deserve to feel strong, supported, and connected to their bodies. Yet, pelvic floor health is often overlooked, despite its essential role in core strength, stability, and overall well-being. Whether you are preparing for pregnancy, navigating postpartum recovery, managing hormonal changes, or simply seeking a deeper connection to your body, pelvic floor work is designed to guide you back to your center.

This work goes beyond traditional fitness—it’s about education, empowerment, and lasting transformation. You’ll learn how breathwork, movement, and mindful activation of the core can help alleviate common issues like incontinence, lower back pain, prolapse, and core instability. By taking the reins on your health, you are not only investing in your physical resilience but also in your confidence and longevity.
