  • I’ve been dancing and performing in some form since I could walk. It started with creating performances in the backyard and finally, at the age of 9, joining a dance studio down the road from where I lived. There I took acrobatics/jazz and lyrical/jazz classes for 10 years and cheered for 9 years. I would go from cheer practice -tight, powerful moves- to lyrical classes with soft, flowing expression of emotions. Hello, versatility.

After graduating high school, I went to college for Graphic Communications and Fine Arts. Although not a dance major, I joined the school’s dance team and became VP then President. I also participated in Senior Showcases orchestrated by Dance majors.

Upon graduation, I moved around the east and west coasts, sadly leaving the dance world behind for the next few years.

In 2017, I took a Modern adult class at a local studio…during the majority of my 2nd pregnancy. I slowly reunited with Dance in 2020 when I decided to teach a toddler and their adults dance class only to be delayed by a pandemic. In 2021, I found an opportunity and a new spark at a fitness studio and held my first dance classes. Later that year, another opportunity presented and Marimo Dance Studio officially opened.

  • Dance was always part of my life but the dream to have a studio focusing on just moving and having fun started in 2008 and evolved more after having my daughter.

  • I love dancing with my kids anywhere, arts and crafts, building dreams with my husband, going to the beach, and stargazing…and smelling fresh basil.

  • Blue. And orange. Then there’s the blue, orange, and white combo in case you couldn’t tell.

  • Breathe. Feel the emotions and then let them go. It will do wonders if you allow yourself to sit with your feelings. And no, you don’t need that bowl of ice cream every single night before bed.

  • Kindness can be found in the every day. A smile, a wave, saying thank you, giving credit where credit is due. So I try to do all the above and more daily.

  • The laughter of children, summer drinks, random dance parties.
